Cold Brew Coffee Recipe

Summer time is close and its going to be a hot one.
Make sure you have your cold brew ready!

Cold brew coffee is made with a different technique where the the coffee is brew at room temperature for an extend period of time.   Resulting in a flavorful, less acidic and smooth coffee.  Also it ends up being stronger in caffeine than regular hot coffee.  The way it's made is pretty simple it just requires at least 12 hours for brewing, up to 24 hours but at Cortado we do 18 hours.

At Cortado we use single origin organic coffee.  Tend to prefer Indonesian coffees with their balanced acidity and nutty flavors.  Lately we've been using the organic Papua New Guinea and organic Bali Blue Moon from Kauai Roastery.  Also we've been using Sero Bebe's Papua New Guinea from the nice guys at Temple Coffee Roasters.

 Come by and grab one before heading to the beach or try this recipe yourself.

What you'll need:
1 cup of coffee {fresh ground; good quality burr grinder recommended}
4.5 cups water
Very fine mesh filter, cheese cloth, or french press
Grind coffee. Add cold water for desired amount for ratio of 1 cup coffee to 4.5 cups water.  Wait 18 hours. Strain. Pour over iced or refrigerate and save for 3-4 days.   Can use tea bag method with cheese cloth.  Also you can use a french press.  After 18 hours press down and drink or refrigerate.
Enjoy!
